Living in a Single Room
Living in a Single Room all gifs from tumblr Hey everyone! I thought Iâd write a quick post about my living situation for this year. Iâm currently living in a single room in Barton Hall, which is an all-girls building thatâs a part of Ikenberry North. I (asked myself) and answered a few questions about my experience so far: 1. Why a single? My freshman year, I lived in a double with a roommate because I wanted to have the traditional freshman year experience. It was a great year, and Iâm glad that I did it. When it came time to start thinking about housing for sophomore year, most of my friends decided to live in apartments. I wasnât quite sure about the commitment level an apartment would require, so I figured that a single would be the best option for me, considering that I wanted a little bit more space and privacy. 2. Favorite things about living in a single? I love that I can do homework in my own room. It gets pretty chilly here and most nights, Iâm not in the mood to walk to the library. My single provides the perfectly quiet study environment, and Iâm usually really productive as long as Iâm not sitting on my bed (I fall asleep every single time.) Also, I can wear whatever I want without judgement from anyone else, and I can do a lot of this: 3. How is the rest of the building? A view of Barton Hallsource: University Housing Barton Hall is honestly the perfect building for me. I mean first of all, itâs gorgeous. (Iâve always been a sucker for brick buildings.) Itâs also conveniently located right across from the Ikenberry Dining Hall, and itâs a two minute walk from the Business Instructional Facility, which is a huge bonus. Iâd say the only downside is that Barton is an older building and doesnât have an elevator. I live on the 4th floor, so this makes things a bit more difficult. 4. Do you get lonely living by yourself? Just kidding. Honestly, it depends on the day. I spend most of my day outside of my room, so I donât really have time to get lonely. When I do get lonely, I know how to handle it I either call my family, go workout, or treat myself to some good food. I do think that having a year of experience on campus helps, because I already have some friends and I feel better adjusted to college life in general. That being said, it really depends on the individual, and what the rest of their floor is like. All of my current floormates are very friendly, and I only wish that Id met them my freshman year. Thats all I can think of for now! If you have any additional questions about living in a single, go ahead and comment below! Ria Class of 2018 I'm studying both Finance and Information Systems and Information Technology in the Gies College of Business. Iâm from Los Altos, California.
